ROUTINE QUALITY ASSURANCE PROCEDURES WARNER LABORATORIES, INC.
A Master Quality Assurance Manual is maintained in the office of Warner
Laboratories, Inc. All QA data as well as procedures and other pertinent data
are copied and stored in this manual.
INCLUDING:
METHODOLOGY
All methodology used including Total Plate Count, Coliform, E. coli, E.
coli0157:H7, Staph Aureus, Salmonella, Listeria, Lactobacillus, and Yeast and
Mold.
PROFICIENCY TESTING
Warner Laboratories participates in Section MO1 of the AOAC Standard
Microbiology program. Quarterly homogeneous samples are analyzed by all
participating laboratories for Total Plate Count, Coliform, E coli, E coli
0157:H7, Staphylococcus Aureus, Salmonella, Listeria, and Yeast and Mold.
Results are compiled and stored in the Master Quality Assurance Manual.
Warner Laboratories participates in the NIST and National Voluntary Laboratory
Accreditation Program proficiency studies program for coliform, fecal coliform,
and E coli.
Warner Laboratories is certified by the Tennessee Department of Environment and
Conservation for the evaluation of total plate count, coliform, fecal coliform,
and e coli in drinking water.
COMPARATIVE DUPLICATE TESTING
Each day, two complete sets of duplicate analyses (one in the morning and one
afternoon) are performed on samples received that day.
BLANK DETERMINATIONS
One set of blank determinations is performed each day using buffered dilution
water prepared in the laboratory.
ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING
Once each week, a minimum of three contact and one non-contact surface in the
laboratory is evaluated to determine the effectiveness of the laboratory
cleaning and sanitation program.
EQUIPMENT MONITORING
All incubators, pH meters, and ovens have temperature readings, and/or
standardization values, recorded at least once each day.
All incubators contain NIST certified thermometers.
AUTOCLAVE MONITORING
Major autoclave creates a temperature and pressure log that is recorded with
each use.
Sterility monitoring tape is included once each cycle, during back-up autoclave
operation, to verify proper sterilization temperature attainment.
Autoclave temperatures are verified weekly using a maximum
temperature-registering thermometer.
EQUIPMENT CLEANING AND SANITATION
Equipment cleaning and sanitation procedures are posted in the laboratory as
well as being stored in the Master Manual.
PURCHASED MATERIALS
The veracity of all purchased dilution water, pipettes, prepared media,
prepared swabs, sponges, and membrane filters is supported by a certificate of
origin.
